color theory demo

color wheel

January 31, 2009

2pm-3:30pm

Resolve to no longer be stumped by color mixing or paint choices.

Resolve to step away from your dependence on color-used-straight-from-the-tube.

Resolve to expand your personal palette, make vibrant those shadows, make pop! that pear in the bowl of cherries you’ve been stressing over for months… make lively and lovely the looking-rather-macabre portait-of-young-girl that you’re ready to toss over your shoulder….

We might have the keys to help you.

So don’t despair just yet. Come on by with your thinking cap and perhaps your own personal puzzler to ask us about.

We will provide the tools and the paint to demonstrate [be warned: you may get rather dirty].

We do have some aprons if you happen to toddle in wearing your top-dollar digs.

We may also provide cookies if we ourselves are feeling rather peckish.

See you there!

oil pastels soft pastels chalk pastels [oh my!]

picasso

Curious to try pastels?

Stop in sometime– we have a little testing station set up so you can stick your toe in the pool before taking the plunge…

[That was a metaphor by the way]

You never know– maybe these could be the sticks that shake up your creative fruit juice…

[yes– another metaphor]

Welcome to Utrecht Atlanta

Hello, my name is Chase Wagner and I am the manager of Atlanta Store #12. I have been working at Utrecht for 5 1/2 years.

Although I am a costume designer and tailor by trade, I enjoy painting in my free time, and have experimented with all of the various media that we carry in our store.

Utrecht Atlanta is located on historic Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta. We are at the corner of 7th Street, next door to Vortex Midtown, and are halfway between the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and the Fox Theater. The nearest Marta stop is Midtown station. We are a full service art supplies store carrying products from hundreds of national brands at low everyday prices.

All of the associates here at Utrecht Atlanta are practicing artists. Ples, my assistant, who has been here for 2 years, is a comic book illustrator with loads of knowledge about pen and ink work. Emily, my other assistant, is an established portrait artist who works almost exclusively in oils. Tony, a graduate of UGA, knows everything there is to know about oil paint. Ashlee is an illustration guru whose printmaking knowledge is off the charts. Katie is a graduate painting student at SCAD-Atlanta. Joy, Autumn, Andrew, and Jill are all art students still deciding their major expertise—which means they are dabbling in anything and everything they can get their hands on. Between us, we can help you solve your creative dilemmas—or get you started with a new medium.

Call or come by any time—we love creative challenges! We’ll see you later!
